Ground improvement techniques are methods used by the geotechnical engineer for 'fixing' the problems of poor soil to increase its bearing capacity, reduce settlements and the time in which it occurs, retard seepage, accelerate the rate of drainage, increase the stability of slopes, mitigate the liquefaction potential in seismic prone areas, etc.
