International Seaports (Haldia) Private Limited

ISPHL is an SPV formed in December 1999 to construct and operate Berth No.4A in Haldia Dock Complex, Kolkata Port Trust on BOOT basis on a 30-year concession.

L & T has partnered with a stevedoring Company, who is experienced in handling cargo. The scope includes construction of the berth and setting up complete mechanical handling facilities for dry bulk cargo. ISPHL has entered into a long-term contract with SAIL for the cargo. The Project was implemented well ahead of schedule, by January 2004 and during the first year of commercial operation achieved 94% capacity utilization. It handles on an average 3 MTPA of coking coal.

Kakinada Seaports limited (KSPL)
KSPL is a tripartite JV formed in December 1998 with equal participation by all the JV Partners for developing Kakinada Deep Water Port, Andhra Pradesh. The concession is for operation of the existing facilities on a 610-metre long terminal and for developing an additional berth for a 20-year period. KSPL has been operating the Port for the past 5 years and the cargo throughput has improved substantially, handling 12 MT in 2007-08. We have exited from the project SPV.
The Dhamra Port Company Limited (DPCL)
DPCL is a SPV for Development & Operation of the Port of Dhamra in the state of Orissa.

This mammoth project is being implemented as a 50: 50 JV between L&T and TATA Steel.  In the first phase of development the Port will have a quay length of 700 m and can berth two 180,000 dwt ships simultaneously.  It will import coal and export Iron ore, is completely mechanized and has a capacity to handle 12 million tonnes of bulk cargo.

The Port is connected by a 65 km Railway Line to Bhadrak which is on the Chennai – Howrah Main Line route.

In subsequent Phases the Port will be developed to a total of 13 Berths capable of handling 80 million tonnes of cargo.

Financial closure for Phase I was achieved in February 2007 and is expected to be operational during the first quarter of 2010.

Shipyard cum minor port at Kattupalli

L&T Shipbuilding Limited (LTSB) is a Special Purpose Vehicle has been set up jointly by L&T and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) for the purpose of developing the Minor Port and Shipyard project at Kattupalli, about 18 km from Chennai.

This green-field shipyard cum minor port is being set up at Kattupalli in Thiruvallur District. The capacity of the port is expected to be 1.85 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) when completed. The associated shipyard of international standards is to be developed primarily for building Defense Vessels and will also have Commercial & Defense ship repair facilities.

The construction activity at the site is expected to commence by July 2009. The Port is expected to be ready for commercial operations in the financial year 2011-12.
