Situated at an elevation of 1,000 m above mean sea level in Rudraprayag, in Uttakhand, across the River Mandakini, this was our first hydel project that we executed on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer basis. The project involves the construction of a barrage - 54 m long x 29.250 m wide x 22 m high above the riverbed, consisting of 5 bays each of 8 m clear span and fitted with radial gates to regulate flood discharge including Head Race Tunnel (HRT), Shafts and Powerhouse.
The Full Reservoir Level (FRL) of the barrage is at EL 1017 m and the top of the barrage including free board is fixed at EL 1020 m. The barrage, on its downstream side, will have an apron of size 54 m length x 45 m width x 3.5 m thickness. Some milestones: construction of a box culvert, a 2-km road leading to Adit-2 with associated protect works, a 19 m steel bridge, another 70 m log span steel truss bridge, another 2.7 km road to access Adit-3 and other ancillary units.
