The Mumbai Coastal Road (Phase 1), India’s pioneering Sea Front Development, was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on March 11, 2024. L&T completed 7.87 km of the 9.87 km stretch, featuring the country’s first 2.072 km undersea tunnel and innovative monopile marine bridge. With an expansive 8.5 km promenade and efficient interchanges, the project aims to redefine Mumbai commuting, potentially saving up to US $100 million annually in carbon emissions. The 8-lane road, coupled with a 6-lane tunnel and strategically positioned 18 entries and exits, will substantially reduce commute times for Mumbai residents, envisaging a remarkable 70% decrease in travel duration.
