Prayas Trust formed by the spouses of the employees of L&T Construction and lady staff, is a social welfare non-profit organization, encouraged and financially assisted by the management of L&T. They integrate the L&T family all over India to serve the community as a single, united body.

Prayas Trust is involved in health care, education and social upliftment of the underprivileged community with sustained efforts through tailor-made programs. The Prayas Medical Centre (PMC) at Virugambakkam, Chennai, is the core project of Prayas which functions six days a week, giving consultation and medicines to more than 300 patients every day through qualified medical practitioners. Health camps are organized at PMC periodically and in the nearby community schools as well to diagnose and treat certain illnesses among women and children.

A full-fledged laboratory, a 10-bed dialysis unit, an x-ray lab, pharmacy and ultrasound facilities have made investigations affordable and accessible for the poor. Free Master Health check-ups are also extended for better health management. The Counselling unit helps patients overcome stress, alcoholism, depression caused due to infertility issues and other illnesses.
