Dholera is a world-class city and global manufacturing hub in the making supported by best-in-class infrastructure and connectivity. The 12 billion-dollar project features a 10-lane, 500 km expressway connecting Dholera to Ahmedabad, the state capital and Vadodara, which is a part of the Golden Quadrilateral. Due to its proximity to the sea, the soil types found in Dholera are unsuitable for heavy structures like bridges necessitating the application of a special, thick GSB layer to strengthen the soil. BIM (Building Information Modelling) has been used extensively for a greenfield, large-scale infrastructure project for the first time and the use of a deck plank slab as a dummy shutter to cast the slab for the storm water drains has increased productivity.
